New Clinic Grand Opening
Planned Parenthood Association of Utah
Event Communications | Media Relations | Brand Implementation | Community Engagement
When Planned Parenthood Association of Utah relocated and expanded its Ogden health center to a new facility three times the size of the original, I supported every aspect of the public-facing launch. From brand compliance and physical space preparation to press conference coordination and CEO talking points, I helped ensure the grand opening reflected the organization's mission, welcomed the community, and earned meaningful media coverage across three outlets.

Supporters filled the waiting room
Opening a new healthcare facility in a politically charged environment required more than logistics — it required a communications strategy that honored the community, introduced new leadership, and sent a clear public signal that the organization was growing, not retreating. Every element of the event had to reflect the brand, feel inclusive to the Utah growing population, and generate the right kind of press coverage.
What I did
Coordinated outdoor signage installation following brand guidelines for the new facility
Sourced and placed inclusive, diverse branded imagery for clinic exam rooms — ensuring representation and belonging for all patients
Organized and executed the grand opening press conference and community celebration
Wrote CEO talking points for Kathryn Boyd's remarks at the event
Booked and coordinated media attendance securing coverage from three outlets including KUER 90.1 NPR
Coordinated the Sarah McClellan waiting room dedication honoring her decades of HIV/AIDS and reproductive health advocacy in Northern Utah
Community Impact
The grand opening marked a turning point for reproductive healthcare access in Northern Utah. A facility three times larger than its predecessor sent a clear public signal in a year of legislative attacks on reproductive rights, Planned Parenthood was growing, not retreating. The Sarah McClellan waiting room dedication gave the Ogden community a lasting symbol of the advocates who made that access possible. For patients, community members, donors, and supporters who packed the waiting room that evening, the event wasn't just a ribbon-cutting, it was a declaration that this organization belongs to them.
